The 32.768 kHz MICRO-SMD silicon oscillators are predestined for use in battery-powered solutions such as Bluetooth Low Energy, IoT, wearables, RTCs, mobile communication, smart metering, smart housing, consumer, medical and industrial applications, etc. and offer excellent performance data and very favourable prices. The 2.0x1.2mm MICRO-SMD silicon oscillator package enables the direct replacement of 32.768 kHz crystals of the 2012 series, as both 32.768 kHz solutions have the same layout dimensions.
With the unique and extremely low current consumption of <1.0µA, the SMD silicone 32.768 kHz oscillators impress with very tight frequency tolerances of ±5 ppm (overall) to ±10 ppm (initial) and thus significantly exceed the temperature stabilities of conventional quartz crystals and crystal oscillators with 32.768 kHz.
The standard housing dimensions are 1.5x0.8mm or 2.0x1.2mm, depending on the type. In contrast to conventional quartz crystals, the ULPO and ULPPO series allow several ICs (MCU, RTC, BLE, etc.) to be clocked simultaneously thanks to the LVCMOS-compatible output signal. In addition, external circuit capacitors are no longer used for these MICRO-SMD oscillators, which saves additional space on the circuit board compared to the quartz and also saves PCB costs due to the significantly lower space requirement. The total power consumption of a BLE solution with ULPO or ULPPO is a good 60% lower than when using a 32,768 kHz quartz crystal.
