HIGH-PRECISION TIMING WITH LOW COST REAL-TIME CLOCK-IC
Compared to conventional RTCs with an external 32.768 kHz quartz crystal, extremely precise application timing for highly accurate time stamps is achieved with minimal effort. The temperature stability is ±5 ppm in the range from -40 °C to +85 °C, which enables a highly accurate time offset of 15 seconds absolute over -40 °C to +85 °C. The Low Cost RTC1010 is also pin-compatible with a wide range of manufacturers.
The 400 kHz I²C bus interface ensures simple integration into the application. In addition to extensive calendar functions, the RTC1010 also offers an adjustable frequency output, which optionally provides high-precision output frequencies (CMOS) with 32.768 kHz, 1.024 kHz or 1 Hz (pulse-per-second applications). The output frequencies can be used to clock PLLs or to generate additional system frequencies. The RTC1010 in a compact 14-pin plastic housing can be operated in a supply voltage range from 1.6 to approx. 5.5 V. The typical supply voltage is 3.0 V. Typical is 3.0 V. At 3 V, the current consumption of the RTC1010 is less than 1.8 µA, making the RTC ideal for battery-powered applications.
