In more and more radio applications in the SUB 1GHZ range, low-cost MINI-SMD-TCXOs from oscillator specialist PETERMANN-TECHNIK from Landsberg am Lech are being used for narrowband radio solutions in order to achieve range advantages thanks to the very narrow frequency tolerances of the MINI-SMD-TCXOs. The MINI-SMD-TCXOs in a 2.5x2.0mm/4pad ceramic housing with frequencies in the range of 16 ~ 32 MHz are mainly used in large series production. Of course, 40 MHz versions are also available for WLAN applications. The MINI-SMD-TCXOs 2.5x2.0mm/4pad is generally available in the frequency range of 9.6 ~ 52.0 MHz. Due to the extremely large series quantities, the power-saving MINI-SMD-TCXOs can be offered at very favourable prices. A major advantage of the low-cost MINI-SMD-TCXOs in the TXO2520 series is the control input on pin 1. The TXO2520 can be switched off via the enable/disable function when the radio application is in sleep mode, resulting in a typical current consumption of 0.4µA at a supply voltage of 3.3 VDC. This makes the TXO2520 ideal for use in battery-operated radio applications. The TXO2520 is available with supply voltages in the range of 1.8 ~ 3.3 VDC, so that the typical current consumption during sleep mode with a supply voltage of 1.8 VDC is less than 0.4µA. The standard temperature stability is specified at ±2.5ppm over -40/+85°C, ageing is ±1ppm max. per year. Of course, the low cost MINI-SMD-TCXO of the TXO2520 series has a very short enable time, so that the TCXO can be woken up very quickly for short-term transmission of radio telegrams. In addition, the very low phase noise of the MINI-SMD-TCXOs enables excellent frequency multiplication. Optimised solutions from the TXO2520 series are available for many radio chip manufacturers. In order to be able to offer customers a very short time-to-market, the specialists at PETERMANN-TECHNIK can also provide application analyses, circuit analyses, circuit development and circuit simulations as technical added value. Reference designs are available. Everything from a single source is PETERMANN-TECHNIK's credo in order to provide customers with the best possible support.
