Low power low cost silicon clock oscillators from our product range feature state-of-the-art IC technology and set standards in terms of performance, extreme longevity (MTBF 1 billion hours), excellent shock and vibration resistance, size, accuracy, jitter, power consumption and flexibility. In our SMD silicon oscillators of the LPO, HTLPO, WTLPO series and in the corresponding automotive versions (AEC-Q100), a silicon resonator is used to clock the IC. Due to the very low oscillation energy of the micro-silicon resonator, the performance of the SMD silicon oscillators is worlds better than that of comparable quartz oscillators. In principle, SMD silicon clock oscillators can be used in all applications that require a very inexpensive clock oscillator. Samples can normally be dispatched on the same day if requested before 14:00.
The trend in favour of SMD silicon oscillators continues unabated. On the one hand, they are inexpensive considering their performance and are replacing quartz oscillators, apart from TCXOs and VC-TCXOs, in all vertical markets and applications. In addition, the ultra low power 32.768 kHz and MHz oscillators enable system energy savings of up to 50% - ask our specialists how this is possible.
WHICH VERSION DO WE RECOMMEND FOR NEW DEVELOPMENTS?
For new developments, we recommend versions in a 2.0x1.6mm or maximum 2.5x2.0mm housing, with the very wide supply voltage range of 2.25 - 3.63 VDC (-XX- in the article designation), the frequency stability of ±20ppm@-40/+85°C, ±30ppm@-40/+105°C, ±30ppm@-40/+125°C, or ±50ppm@-55/+125°C, with the desired frequency. For the function of pin1, we recommend using the stand-by function, even if this function is not absolutely necessary. Reason. On the one hand, the wiring effort for pin #1 is very low in relation to the possible price saving. This is because we normally have large quantities of stock with the stand-by function in our warehouse, so that we can deliver at very short notice and at low cost. Oscillators without the stand-by function on pin 1 are manufactured in the required quantity, which is normally significantly more expensive. If no stock quantities of the desired oscillator are available, the standard delivery time, even for customised products, is 4 - max. 6 weeks.
HOW TO IMPROVE THE EMV BEHAVIOUR FREE OF CHARGE
The SMD silicon clock oscillators have the so-called SoftLevel function. Detailed information can be found in the following report:"How SMD silicon clock oscillators significantly improve EMC."
The free SoftLevel function makes it possible to slow down the rise/fall time of the output signal. This makes the edges of the output signal rounder; in the slowest version, the output signal resembles a shark fin. With an extension of up to 45% of the rise/fall time, the EMC attenuation at the 11th harmonic is over -60 dB. An enormous value for such a simple adjustment oftrise and tfall.
